Kettle Falls to Republic (Sherman Pass)

Record elevation gain today after the massive Sherman pass. Not helped by my having a puncture (from 2 little wires) about 12 km from the top. The message got up to Stan (via a passing car and a passing couple of touring cyclists - Germans, Stephanie and Max) and my knight on a shining bicycle took off his panniers and came 12km back down the very steep hill on a very hot day (42 degrees C) to help me.

I had already changed the tube but unfortunately my spare also had holes in it and I was having trouble finding any of the holes so I could patch them. Stan was somewhat faster than me at finding and fixing the the problems and then we had to climb the 12km up to the top. We were both pretty much out of water by the end of the day.

Today:65km Total:4922km

This sign puzzled me until I worked out that it mean't that if you were a slow vehicle and more than 5 vehicles were behind you wanting to pass, you had to stop and let them. Very sensible.
