US and Canada Tour
Roz and Stan's big trip for 2015
Canada Summary
So our time in Canada is over.
We were a bit disappointed with the Police force: you know, truth in advertising and all that. RCMP - Royal Canadian MOUNTED police - They all seem to drive cars - maybe the odd motorbike but we didn't see a single police officer on a horse... As far as we could tell they spent all their time trying to catch speeding drivers. One time, they were waiting just down from the top of a very steep hill which had a 60km/h speed limit. Stan says he was flying down the hill and when he saw the policeman pointing his speed thingy at him, he glanced down at his speedo to see that he was doing 59.5km/h. I'm not quite sure how or if they would have given him a ticket on a bicycle but I'm happy that they didn't have to.
As well as trying to say washroom (instead of the US restroom), and throwing in an 'eh' at the end of sentences to blend in more with the locals, we had to learn some new vocabulary in Canada:
Poutine - (Hot chips with gravy and cheese)
Toque - (Beanie, woollen hat)
Texas Gate - (Cattle grid in road)
Loonie and Toonie - ($1 and $2 coins respectively)
We also enjoyed Canadian Road Signs which included:
Skate quickly to hamburgers with handles?

Lady farmers selling pumpkins on Thursdays.
Hail the holy goat.

Rudolf and 2 friends coming your way.
Blade running bicycles
Don't touch other people's apple cores
I wish every hill was so descriptive (we were lucky enough to be going downhill after this sign). If you look carefully someone has stuck some stickers on this one - there is a tortoise for the slowest bit.
Steep hill ahead.
