Umatilla to Walla Walla

Today:98km Total:428km

Another massive day today 98km and hot! I was totally shattered.(Stan reckons he could have gone another 50km!)

Leaving Umatilla this morning this is a view back to the bridge. (We camped on this side of the river, just the other side of this bridge last night).

Some shots from the road

We have been crossed the Washington/Oregon border several times already (but always over bridges). Today we did it on the road so of course had to stop for pics (Stan crossed the road and took a pic of the Oregon sign too - so I took a picture of him taking the photo!)

There are trains on both sides of the river and we took some more pics of them today too.

We wanted to camp in the RV park - but they didn't allow tent campers (only recreational vehicles and caravans) so we had to get a motel (The Colonial Inn Motel). It blew the budget a bit but is very comfortable.

Walla Walla is a big place so they have a big supermarket. We like the look of the different ways that wine is sold. The small cartons at the top hold enough for about 3 glasses - That sounds like a good size to me.

Another thing we like about supermarkets here is that they print the receipts all categorised into different areas. Since the receipt is printed at the end there is no reason Australian supermarkets couldn't do this.

We also found soft cheese (Brie) in this supermarket - most places just sell hard cheese.

After having fun with Portland's 'Wait' voice at the pedestrian crossing, we found that Walla Walla's pedestrian crossings are even more vocal saying the name of the street and counting the time to cross. This was at Wilbur Street.
