MacLehose Stage 2: Long Ke to Pak Tam Au (past Tai Long
Wan beach)

Start: Take
MTR to Choi Hung. Take exit C and take a minibus to Sai Kung. Get off at
the last stop (the bus station). Then taxi to start of walk at Long Ke. (From Admiralty MTR,
expect 1 hr 20 minutes travel time) Start:
There are several ways to get to the start.
1) Take
MTR to Choi Hung. Take exit C and take a minibus to Sai Kung. Get off at
the last stop (the bus station). Then taxi to the start of walk. (From Admiralty
MTR,
expect 1 hr 20 minutes travel time)
2) MTR to Hang Hau and take the minibus to Sai Kung bus terminus. Then taxi to
the start of walk. End: You can catch a bus to Sai Kung or
Diamond Hill MTR. Time: 5 hours Difficulty: Difficult. A couple of 400m hills (and some smaller
ones) and back down to sea level in between. Start at the beautiful High Island
reservoir and walk over a couple of beaches including Tai Long Wan whose long
yellow sand beaches are popular for camping (the less fit people get a boat here
from Sai Kung). This is one of the few stages on any of Hong Kong's trails where
there are restaurants to stop for lunch on the way. You see some superb panoramas during the walk. Short
Cut: You can shorten the walk by starting at the end of the Sai Kung
San Wan Road where there is a trail to Sai Wan. Get there by taxi from Sai
Kung or take a minibus. Sharp Peak - If you want to climb Sharp Peak, it is better to start
from end of Stage 2 and walk down the beach and back again. If you run out of
time, you can catch a small boat from Chek Keng to Wong Shek Pier for around
HK$20. Last bus from Wong Shek Pier - 7.45pm. Boats from Sai Kung to Tai Long
Wan only run when it is calm enough to land (usually summer only)
